Quién te manda / Serves You Right

Gabriel returns to Mexico City after being deported from New York. Having had a taste of the American dream, he finds work at the Orozco house. There he meets Lucía, the young lady of the house, who lives in the oppressive privilege of her social class. Even though they are from the same city, Lucía and Gabriel come from different worlds, yet they become involved in a passionate love affair that bristles against the taboos of their society.
Serves You Right is a magnificent portrait of the economic inequality of Mexican society, seen through the eyes of someone who knows well its contradictions and its open and festering wounds, but also its humor and carnality. Without cynicism or self-righteousness, Yehudit explores the understandable motivations of characters who live in the cruel and comic labyrinth of a stifling environment.
